Mouse Bite Labs makes open-source Game Boy cartridge boards, the circuit board inside the shell. It’s run by BucketMouse, and these labels are for those boards. My ROM bot runs on their Discord.
The boards are flash carts, meaning you write the game onto them yourself. What they don’t come with is a label, so the finished cart ends up as good hardware wearing a blank face.
Five board types
One label per board type, so the label tells you what’s inside. MBC stands for memory bank controller, a chip on the board, and every game was written for a particular one, so it decides which games that board will run. A multicart holds more than one game on a single cartridge.
- MBC1 single-game cartridge
- MBC3 single-game cartridge
- MBC5 single-game cartridge
- MBC3 multicart
- MBC5 multicart
All five share one design, a bucket-headed mouse in sunglasses over a neon grid, with the board type swapped. A mouse wearing a bucket, for BucketMouse’s boards. Pretty literal.
The files
- PNG-24, 2100 × 1850 pixels, around 2 MB each
- A preview image alongside each one, so you can see it before you download the print file
- The README links each label to the matching Mouse Bite Labs board repo
For printing, the README points to MatthewMods on Etsy for holographic label stock.
The same five designs are also in my romhack and translation labels.
