I’m Kris, web developer by trade, maker by impulse. This site is where most of it ends up.

My day job is Director of Web & Interactive Media at St. Thomas University, which is a long-ass fancy title that just means I’m responsible for the public-facing websites and media that fall under the university’s marketing department. I also do web work and custom WordPress stuff for clients. I’ve been on the internet since 1995, back when I was slapping together shitty Angelfire and GeoCities pages to proclaim how awesome Mega Man and Gohan are. Three decades later I’m still making web pages about video games. The HTML has improved.

I’ve even been published: my article “The Application of Kantian Ethical Principles in Global Website Design and Development” is in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Research, Vol. 15, No. 1 (Spring 2023, PDF) (opens in a new tab), starting on page 59.

Around 2022 I got into Game Boy modding, meaning opening up old Game Boys and changing what’s inside. 3D printing followed shortly after. Since then it’s been a squat stool for the bathroom, a barely-there display stand for carts, a Game Boy cart case shaped like a cassette tape case so it fits in tape racks, a couple of cartridge shells, two cans for Zyn nicotine pouches, and labels for fan translations, romhacks (fan-made edits of old games) and flash carts. It’s all on the projects page. The stool is by far my most-downloaded model.

Most of the print files are on MakerWorld, Bambu Lab’s site for sharing them, and the code’s on GitHub. Sometimes I film stuff for Instagram (opens in a new tab).

There’s software too, mostly tools I wanted for myself. The GBC Palette Editor is my Mac rebuild of toruzz’s palette tool for the romhacks that add color to original Game Boy games. His version is Windows-only, and I’m mostly not on Windows.

Other software:

  • Peekabu, which puts my Bambu printer’s camera and temps in the Mac menu bar
  • Claudometer, a cheap little touchscreen on my desk that tells me how much Claude Code I have left this week
  • leaksmith, which ages fake government memos until an AI takes them at face value
  • GB ROM Database Bot, for looking up Game Boy games without leaving Discord
  • linkbruh, a side-project Discord bot that fixes X and Instagram links so the videos actually play

I live in Miami with Laika, a dog named after the Soviet space dog, and GG, a cat named after GG Allin.

After enough nudges from a handful of very kind people, I put all this into a proper repository and a single-page site. This is the bigger version.
